Overview

  • Cook County sheriff’s police say an Aug. 9 attempt to pull over a red Chevrolet Impala for illegal tint ended in an alley stop on the 500 block of North LaSalle.
  • Officers report recovering five guns, including a .40-caliber pistol with an extended magazine, along with 87 rounds of ammunition and about 24 grams of cannabis.
  • The men were identified as Zion Bellamy, Zavion Bellamy, Trajhan Young, Adayveon Young, and Jermel Rogers, and authorities allege none had a valid FOID or CCL.
  • Prosecutors charged all five with unlawful possession of a weapon in a vehicle, with additional counts for Zion Bellamy for fleeing and cannabis, and for Rogers for cannabis possession as a passenger.
  • Judge Antara Rivera ordered them detained on Aug. 10, then Judge Robert Kuzas released all five on Aug. 15, and the charges remain pending as the CCPSA considers limits on CPD stops for window tint violations.
