- On August 12 a mentally vulnerable man, Cláudio Rafael, was falsely accused of stealing a bicycle, surrounded and beaten for minutes and later died of traumatic cranioencephalic injury and internal hemorrhaging.
- In mid-September the Ministério Público filed a complaint for triple-qualified homicide and the court formally made five suspects defendants while converting their temporary arrests to preventive detention.
