Overview

• The two gunmen are known within the Zithobeni community, according to SAPS.
• The violence began around 1:30 a.m. when a shot went off inside the tavern and fleeing patrons were fired upon outside.
• Six injured patrons were taken to nearby medical facilities, all have been identified, and only one of the deceased has been formally identified so far.
• The suspects took the patron’s licensed 9mm pistol and investigators have opened murder and attempted-murder dockets.
• Police have not announced arrests of the shooters and are appealing for information as provincial teams search for them.
