Five Injured as Special-Needs School Bus Rear-Ends Vehicle in Bethlehem Township

Investigators are reviewing a rear-end collision at Freemansburg Avenue and Washington Street involving a Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 bus.

  • Two students, a bus aide, the bus driver and the other vehicle's driver were hurt and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital – Anderson Campus with non-life-threatening injuries.
  • Police said the crash occurred around 4:30 to 4:35 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Freemansburg Avenue and Washington Street in Northampton County.
  • A preliminary review found the bus was traveling westbound when it struck the rear of a vehicle stopped to make a left turn.
  • Both vehicles sustained moderate disabling damage and were towed from the scene, according to police.
