Five Finalists Named for Inaugural Polaris Song Prize

Voting opened today among more than 200 industry professionals to decide the winner ahead of the Massey Hall gala in September.

  • The shortlisted songs are “Gaza is Calling” by Mustafa, Lou-Adriane Cassidy’s “Dis-moi dis-moi dis-moi,” Saya Gray’s “Shell (Of a Man),” Yves Jarvis’s “Gold Filigree” and Ribbon Skirt’s “Wrong Planet.”
  • The Polaris Song Prize offers a $10,000 cash award shared by performers and songwriters in recognition of artistic merit.
  • Winners will be chosen by an online vote drawing on a pool of over 200 critics, podcasters, playlist curators and academics.
  • All five finalists also appear on albums shortlisted for this year’s Polaris Music Prize.
  • The inaugural Song Prize winner will be unveiled at Toronto’s Massey Hall during the Polaris Music Prize gala on September 16.
