- The five founders publicly announced the creation of the European Network for Payments on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, and set up a Madrid-based company equally owned by Bizum, MB WAY/SIBS, Bancomat, EPI and Vipps MobilePay.
- Founders say technical pilots for person-to-person transfers are complete and ENP will roll out expanded services in phases through 2027, starting by scaling P2P and later enabling e-commerce and in-store payments.
- ENP will link each partner’s existing systems through a central hub so customers can send money or pay abroad without changing apps, while local brands and user experiences remain intact.
- The consortium estimates the network initially reaches about 130–140 million users across 13 markets, covering most EU countries plus Norway, which founders say avoids building a replacement infrastructure.
