Five Chinese Nationals Charged for Concealing Visit to Michigan Military Site

The individuals, former University of Michigan students, face charges of lying and tampering with evidence following a midnight encounter at Camp Grayling.

The charges stem from an August 2023 incident where the individuals were found near Camp Grayling during military exercises.
The accused claimed to be media personnel when confronted by a National Guard officer at the site.
Authorities allege the group conspired to delete photos from their devices to mislead investigators.
The FBI has previously noted similar incidents involving Chinese students photographing sensitive U.S. defense sites.
The five men, who were part of a joint program with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, are currently not in custody.
