Overview

• The assault occurred around 2 a.m. on October 6 near the Ayyappa Temple in Kamlanagar, Bagh Amberpet, where attackers used sticks and beer bottles.
• The victim, B.Tech student Madipally Abhinav of Kamalanagar, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Malakpet.
• Investigators formed a special team and reviewed CCTV footage following a complaint filed by Abhinav’s father, Narayan.
• Police arrested D. Gautam (18), D. Sampath (20), B. Yashwant/Yashwanth (21), A. Shivakumar (26), and B. Bhaskar (22) within about 24 hours of the incident.
• All five were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody, and the Kachiguda ACP said repeat-offender records could be opened if warranted.
