Five Arrested in Connection with Mojave Desert Murders

Suspects Charged in Killings Believed to be Linked to Dispute Over Illegal Marijuana

  • Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of six people in the Mojave Desert in southern California. The victims were found on January 23, with some bodies showing signs of being burned.
  • The suspects, identified as Toniel Baez-Duarte, Mateo Baez-Duarte, Jose Nicolas Hernandez-Sarabia, Jose Gregorio Hernandez-Sarabia, and Jose Manuel Burgos Parra, have been charged with six felony counts of murder and robbery.
  • The victims were found in a remote area known for illegal marijuana operations, leading authorities to believe the killings were connected to a dispute over the drug.
  • Four of the victims have been identified as Baldemar Mondragon-Albarran, Franklin Noel Bonilla, Kevin Dariel Bonilla, and a 45-year-old man whose name has been withheld. The identities of the remaining two victims are still being determined.
  • The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has stated that they believe all suspects in the case are now in custody.
