Overview
- On July 20 the suspects blocked a GST consultant's car, forced him into a vehicle and threatened him with prosecution over alleged fake e-way bills before demanding Rs 29 lakh that was delivered in cash by the victim's brother.
- Bisrakh and Central Noida police arrested five men identified as Kashish Chauhan (alias Ishu), Rajesh Pawar, Vivek Sharma, Ankit Shahi and Anshul after reviewing CCTV, surveillance and local intelligence.
- Authorities recovered the complete extorted sum as Rs 24.5 lakh in cash plus gold and silver jewellery valued at about Rs 4.5 lakh, along with two cars, seven mobile phones and police and Civil Defence uniforms.
- Police said some accused have real workplace links—Chauhan works as a DCPO at Yashobhoomi and Pawar is associated with Delhi Civil Defence—but none are serving police officers and their criminal antecedents are being verified.
- Investigators say the case shows how impersonation and tax‑compliance threats can be used to target consultants, and they are continuing evidence checks and verification to build the formal case.
