- Met Police said masked men tried to enter the Crowne Plaza in West Drayton, making five arrests after minor injuries to two officers and issuing a Section 35 dispersal order.
- Essex Police charged two men from Friday’s protest outside Epping’s Bell Hotel and imposed a 24-hour Section 60AA face-coverings power and a dispersal zone ahead of further demonstrations.
- Protests and counter-protests were reported in locations including Falkirk, Newcastle, Gloucester, London, Bournemouth and Long Eaton, with most events contained by police though some were tense.
- The Court of Appeal overturned a High Court injunction on the Bell Hotel, allowing Home Office and Somani Hotels to continue housing 138 asylum seekers, with a full planning hearing due in October.
- At least a dozen councils are pursuing or preparing legal action over hotel use, as government figures show more than 32,000 asylum seekers were in around 200 hotels nationwide at the end of June.
