FIS Grants Neutral Status to Five More Russian Athletes

The move continues case-by-case reinstatements following a CAS decision that overturned FIS's blanket ban.

Overview

  • FIS named freestylers Darya Melchakova, Lana Prusakova, Polina Ryabova, Natalya Sherina, and alpine skier Ekaterina Tkachenko as eligible to compete as neutrals.
  • Three members of athletes' support teams were also cleared for international events.
  • The approvals add to earlier clearances for skiers Saveliy Korostelev and Darya Nepryayeva, freestyler Anastasia Tatalina, nordic combined athlete Artem Galunin, snowboarder Maria Travinicheva, alpine skiers Yulia Pleshkova, Alexander Andrienko, Semyon Efimov, Ivan Kuznetsov, and ski jumpers Mikhail Nazarov and Danil Sadreev.
  • FIS is reviewing Russian applications individually under a process established after the December 2 CAS ruling.
  • Neutral status permits participation in international competitions without national representation.
