FIS Expands Neutral Athlete List to 11 for Milan-Cortina Qualifying

The expansion follows a CAS order requiring FIS to admit vetted athletes from Russia or Belarus to qualifiers under IOC neutrality rules.

Overview

  • FIS added two more Belarusian cross-country skiers on Thursday, a day after approving nine athletes, bringing the initial neutral pool to 11.
  • Wednesday’s first list included six Belarusians and three Russians, featuring Belarusian aerials star Hanna Huskova and Russia’s 2021 big air world champion Anastasia Tatalina.
  • Russian cross-country skiers Savelii Korostelev and Dariya Nepryaeva were among those cleared, with immediate opportunities at World Cup races in Davos this week.
  • FIS said eligibility reviews are ongoing and that it will publish updated neutral lists in the coming days as further cases are decided.
  • Travel, visa access and event deadlines remain hurdles, with cross-country quotas closing in mid-December and many other ski disciplines’ windows running into January.
