FIS Adds Five Russian Athletes as Neutrals, Denies Shorokhova Application

The federation is implementing a CAS ruling by reopening participation through individually vetted neutral licenses under strict eligibility rules.

Overview

  • FIS granted neutral status to Nikita Andreyev, Nikita Novitskiy, Svetlana Ivanova, Ilya Khurtin, and Ilya Mankov, allowing them to enter international events.
  • Senior freestyle coach Nikolay Shimbyuev and coach Yuri Zukal were also approved for neutral status.
  • The latest approvals bring the total number of Russian athletes cleared to compete as neutrals to 21.
  • FIS rejected cross-country skier Ksenia Shorokhova’s application, citing unmet anti-doping requirements, with vetting also requiring no voluntary ties to military or security services and no support for the “special military operation” in Ukraine.
  • Earlier approvals enabled Daria Nepryayeva and Saveliy Korostelyov to compete at the Davos World Cup and secure non-nominal Olympic quota places.
