Overview
- Gaza Civil Defense reported hundreds of pleas for help as downpours flooded tents, soaked belongings and caused some collapses.
- Flooding was concentrated in Gaza City’s Al-Nafaq, Al-Daraj, Yarmouk, Al-Zaytoun and Al-Shati and in Deir al-Balah’s Al-Baraka and Al-Bassa, with Muwasi residents digging trenches to divert water.
- OCHA says more than 1.4 million people need emergency shelter items and over 320,000 housing units have been damaged during the war.
- Limited distributions reached parts of central and southern Gaza, including nearly 1,000 tents on Thursday and earlier deliveries of about 7,000 blankets and 15,000 tarpaulins, which agencies say fall far short of needs.
- Since the Oct. 10 ceasefire, OCHA reports 23 denied requests to bring nearly 4,000 pallets of shelter supplies into Gaza, while a lack of pumps and heavy equipment impedes drainage and increases health and protection risks, including from explosive remnants.
