First Vande Bharat Sleeper Prototype Enters Commissioning as Production Scales Up

Contracts for 200 sleeper rakes, including 120 to Kinet, have been awarded to speed up overnight travel on medium and long-distance routes.

  • Contracts for manufacturing 200 sleeper rakes have been awarded to technology partners, with production led by Integral Coach Factory and Kinet Railway Solutions.
  • Kinet Railway Solutions is obligated under its original agreement to deliver 120 sixteen-coach sleeper trains for medium and long-haul services.
  • The semi-high-speed sleeper variant includes automatic doors, onboard WiFi, ultra-comfortable berths and an aircraft-style design with advanced safety systems for 160 km/h operation.
