Overview
- A massive jellyfish swarm clogged the cooling-water filter drums at Gravelines, triggering automatic shutdowns of reactors 2, 3, 4 and later reactor 6
- Two other reactors were already offline for scheduled maintenance, leaving all six units temporarily out of service
- EDF affirmed that plant safety, staff and the environment remained fully protected and that the national grid was not disrupted
- Onsite teams are cleaning clogged filters and running diagnostics ahead of a phased restart process expected to last several days
- As of August 13, the first of the four affected reactors has been brought back online while work continues on the remaining three units
