First Palestinians Allowed to Leave Gaza Amid Israeli Strikes, Dual Passport Holders and Wounded Evacuated as Casualties Escalate

Over 8,700 Palestinians killed and more than 22,000 wounded in three-week conflict, nations worldwide condemn Israel's deadly airstrikes on refugee camp, while Egypt limits influx of Palestinian evacuees fearing they will not be allowed to return after the war.

  • For the first time after three weeks of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, Palestinians - dual passport holders and the critically wounded - are being allowed to leave Gaza. The exact toll of casualties from Israeli airstrikes on Gaza's refugee camp is still unknown.
  • Israel has broadened its aerial attacks in Gaza, causing global condemnation. The most targeted area is a densely populated refugee camp near Gaza city, where buildings have been demolished and casualties continue to escalate.
  • Despite the growing humanitarian crisis due to attacks, including shortages of food, water, and fuel, no one had been permitted to leave the besieged territory in Gaza until a limited agreement was reached allowing the evacuation of dual passport holders and seriously injured Palestinians.
  • Israel's ground forces are advancing towards densely populated areas of Gaza city, potentially increasing casualties. Still, amid the crisis, 110 foreign passport holders were allowed to exit Gaza, with a plan for more than 400 to be permitted exit for Egypt. However, Egypt has expressed its apprehensions about accepting Palestinian refugees.
  • The ongoing conflict has recorded more than 8,700 Palestinian deaths, and over 22,000 people have been wounded according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. On the Israeli side, over 1,400 casualties have been reported, primarily civilians killed during Hamas's initial attack.
