Overview

  • The first LCA Mk-1A produced at HAL’s Nashik facility is scheduled for its maiden flight in mid-July, officials said.
  • HAL is targeting delivery of the first Bengaluru-built Mk-1A to the Indian Air Force between July and August after a roughly 16-month delay.
  • GE Aerospace delivered the first F404-IN20 engine to HAL in March and expects a second in July, followed by two engines per month until December.
  • Nashik’s production line will roll out four to five Mk-1As in 2025 and increase to eight annually from 2026, lifting combined output with Bengaluru to 24 jets per year.
  • In May the government approved an industry partnership model for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft programme to accelerate private sector participation.
