The reboot of 'The Toxic Avenger,' directed by Macon Blair, stars Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze, a janitor turned mutant vigilante after a toxic waste accident.
Entertainment Weekly released the first images of the new Toxie, with reactions from fans ranging from skepticism to enthusiasm for its homage to Troma's original 'so bad it's good' aesthetic.
The film retains the splatter film essence of the 1984 original, featuring practical effects and iconic elements like Toxie's melted tutu and janitor's mop weapon.
Joining Dinklage are Taylour Paige as investigative journalist JJ Doherty, Jacob Tremblay as Winston's stepson Wade, Kevin Bacon as villainous CEO Bob Garbinger, and Elijah Wood as his brother Fritz.
After premiering at Fantastic Fest in 2023 and facing distribution delays, the film secured North American rights through Cineverse and will debut in theaters this summer.
