Overview
- The National Weather Service kept winter weather advisories in effect through 6 p.m. Tuesday for high elevations in Colorado and parts of Wyoming, calling for 4 to 10 inches on passes and locally higher totals on the tallest Front Range peaks.
- Ski-area cameras showed measurable snowfall, including about four inches at Winter Park and around five inches on some higher peaks, while valleys saw little to no accumulation as snow levels hovered near 9,000 to 10,000 feet.
- Rocky Mountain National Park reported ongoing snowfall above 10,000 feet and temporarily closed Trail Ridge Road between Rainbow Curve and Colorado River Trailhead, with Old Fall River Road also closed.
- Denver and the plains recorded steady rain with more than an inch possible and highs in the 50s, and although flakes reached some foothills, roads generally saw limited sticking outside the passes.
- Cold-related alerts extended beyond the snow zone, including a frost advisory for the San Luis Valley early Wednesday and freeze alerts in Wyoming, as forecasters urged protection for crops and outdoor plumbing before a rapid warm-up midweek.
