First-Ever IndiaSkills North East Competition Opens in Guwahati
Organisers aim to lower participation barriers to channel regional talent toward national selection.
Overview
- The four-day regional event runs January 19–22 at Gauhati University with contests across 26 skills.
- Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary inaugurated the competition and stressed aligning skilling with formal education under NEP 2020.
- A total of 162 competitors from all eight North East states are participating in categories spanning technology, trades and creative disciplines.
- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is conducting the event with NSDC as knowledge and implementing partner.
- Top performers will qualify for the IndiaSkills 2025–26 national stage, which has logged 3.65 lakh registrations across 63 categories via the Skill India Digital Hub.
