First Donated Modular Home Installed for Eaton Fire Survivor in Altadena

A Steadfast LA–Samara initiative plans to rehouse nine Altadena families using fire-resistant units as more installations roll out through 2026.

Overview

  • The first of three sections of the Rodriguez family's modular home was installed on Jan. 22 in Altadena, with completion expected in the coming weeks and a planned return in March.
  • The homes are being provided free to survivors who cannot afford to rebuild through Steadfast LA, a public-private effort led by Rick Caruso.
  • Samara says the units feature fiber-cement exteriors, steel framing and metal roofing, can generate their own energy, and include HVAC systems that filter wildfire smoke.
  • Nine Altadena families have been selected for the initial cohort, and organizers say additional installations are scheduled through 2026.
  • Grant eligibility is listed for fire victims in Altadena, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades and Malibu, with financial-assistance partners including HomeAid OCLA, loanDepot and Armanino.
