The cargo ship Genius Star XI, carrying around 800 tonnes of lithium-ion batteries, caught fire on December 25, 2023.
The fire was contained but ongoing until it was finally extinguished by the US Coast Guard after several days.
The ship was diverted to Dutch Harbor, Alaska, to mitigate risks to the community and environment from toxic gases produced by the fire.
No oil leaks have been associated with the fire, according to the ship's owners, Wisdom Marine Group.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and an investigation will begin once response efforts wrap up.
