Fire in Udit Narayan's Building Claims One Life, Leaves Singer Shaken

A fire in the Mumbai high-rise caused the death of a 75-year-old resident, while Udit Narayan and others evacuated safely.

The fire broke out on January 6, 2025, at 9:15 PM in the B wing of Skypan Apartments in Andheri, Mumbai, where Udit Narayan resides in the A wing.
The blaze, suspected to have been caused by a diya igniting nearby curtains, resulted in the death of 75-year-old Rahul Mishra due to asphyxiation and injured his 38-year-old relative, Raunak Mishra.
Firefighting efforts lasted nearly four hours, with the fire extinguished by 1:49 AM; reports indicate the building's fire safety systems were non-functional, complicating rescue operations.
Five individuals were present in the affected duplex flat at the time of the fire, three of whom escaped unhurt, while Rahul Mishra's wife sought help from building staff.
Udit Narayan expressed gratitude for his safety but shared that the incident has left him mentally shaken and deeply saddened by the loss of his neighbor.
