Overview
- Smoke and flames were detected around 7:30 a.m. in AC coach G-19 of Train 12204 near Sirhind in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district.
- A passenger pulled the alarm chain and the loco pilot used emergency braking, allowing passengers to evacuate to adjoining coaches.
- One 32-year-old woman sustained minor burns and was admitted to Civil Hospital Fatehgarh Sahib; no fatalities were reported.
- Fire brigade teams, GRP, RPF and railway staff contained the blaze in roughly an hour and detached three affected coaches from the rake.
