Fire in Collserola Stabilized After Burning About 10 Hectares

Authorities have detained a suspect and launched a criminal inquiry while firefighters remain on site to prevent re‑ignition during a heatwave.

Overview

  • A wildfire broke out on the slopes of Sant Pere Màrtir in Collserola on Friday afternoon and was reported stabilized by firefighters by about 18:00 after burning roughly ten hectares.
  • Around 20–30 ground crews from Bombers de Barcelona and Bombers de la Generalitat plus aerial assets including a helicopter and a MAER were deployed to contain the blaze.
  • Preventive measures included evacuating the Espai Mireia restaurant, confining residents in Can Caralleu, and closing forest tracks and nearby roads to protect neighborhoods such as Pedralbes and to help emergency access.
  • The Guardia Urbana detained a man near the ignition site and Mossos d'Esquadra together with Agentes Rurales opened investigations to determine whether the fire was deliberately started.
  • Barcelona authorities had pre‑positioned resources after the Generalitat set the Barcelonès at Plan Alfa level 3 for very high fire risk and said crews would stay overnight to fully extinguish hotspots and reduce the chance of reactivation.
