Fire at Virginia Zoo Kills Meerkat, Damages Structures

A fire at the Metro Richmond Zoo in Virginia caused the death of one meerkat.
Nine other animals were rescued from the fire that destroyed the zoo's animal hospital, feed storage, and workshop areas.
No staff were injured in the blaze that started Sunday night, and the zoo reopened Monday.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Despite the damage, zoo officials say the rescued animals are unharmed.
