Fire at MPs’ Brahmaputra Apartments Contained in Delhi as Probe Examines Cause and Response

Police opened a case into the parking-area blaze following early findings that stored furniture ignited.

  • Preliminary assessments point to discarded furniture in the stilt parking catching fire, with some residents alleging firecrackers or a blast worsened the incident.
  • Damage was concentrated on the stilt, upper-ground and first floors with external charring higher up; staff quarters and some vehicles were affected, not MPs’ flats.
  • Residents and MP Saket Gokhale alleged delayed response and failed hydrants, MoHUA said building systems worked, a DFS official said crews may have arrived slightly late, and police are investigating potential negligence.
