  • The blaze erupted on May 27 afternoon at the Les Sables d’Or campsite in Agde, sweeping across 1.5 hectares of the site.
  • Fire services deployed about 180 firefighters and 50 vehicles to bring the flames under control by evening with no ongoing risk of reignition.
  • Official figures report 181 mobile homes and 12 vehicles destroyed and two people treated for slight injuries, including one case of smoke inhalation.
  • Local authorities have established reception centres at Agde’s Charrin and Molinié gymnasiums to shelter approximately 600 displaced holidaymakers.
