Finch West LRT Opens Sunday With Free Rides

The debut coincides with the TTC assuming control of the Eglinton Crosstown for a phased launch in early 2026.

  • Ceremonial trains leave Finch West Station at 7:20 a.m. and 7:27 a.m. Sunday, with first full-service departures at 7:33 a.m. westbound from Norfinch Oakdale and 7:47 a.m. eastbound from Jane and Finch.
  • Initial service runs under soft‑opening hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays, with trains every 6.5 minutes at rush and every 10–12 minutes off‑peak.
  • Riders must tap to pay on platforms using Presto, credit or debit, with a single‑ride vending machine available for cash; fare payment on board is not offered.
  • The 18‑stop line links Line 1’s Finch West Station to Humber Polytechnic North Campus, with revised bus connections including routes such as 35 Jane, 41 Keele, 96 Wilson and several express services.
  • Ontario declared the Eglinton Crosstown substantially complete and transferred it to the TTC, with an opening targeted for early 2026 and a six‑month ramp‑up from 6 a.m.–11 p.m. service at roughly 4:45‑minute peaks to 5:30 a.m.–2:30 a.m. and about 3:30‑minute peaks.
