Finch West LRT Opens as Line 6, Linking Humber College to the Subway

The debut uses a soft-opening schedule with platform fare payment alongside provincial support for TTC operations.

Overview

  • The 10.3‑kilometre, 18‑stop line runs along Finch Avenue West between Finch West Station on Line 1 and Humber College’s North Campus with links to York Region Transit, MiWay and Brampton Transit.
  • Service is operating on soft-opening hours: 6 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 7:30 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday, with shuttle buses covering the 10 p.m.–1 a.m. period.
  • Onboard payment is not yet active, so riders must tap on platforms using Presto or contactless credit and debit cards, with a single-ride cash vending option available.
  • Trains are scheduled every six and a half minutes during weekday rush hours and every 10–12 minutes at other times.
  • Officials project about 51,000 daily riders and emphasize improved access for northwest Toronto neighborhoods including Etobicoke North, with the TTC operating the line and the province covering operating costs.
