- Ten reputed baseball announcers, including Red Sox's Joe Castiglione and the late Ernie Johnson Sr., are selected as finalists for the Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick Award for Broadcasting Excellence, with the winner to be announced on Dec. 6.
- This year's ballot is the second of four consecutively aimed at broadcasters whose careers extend into the wild card era, which started in 1995; the 2027 award will consider those from the pre-wild card era.
- To qualify for consideration, a candidate must have at least 10 continuous years of Major League broadcast service with a ball club, network, or a combination of the two, along with qualities such as commitment to excellence and popularity with fans.
- Apart from Castiglione and Johnson, the other finalists are Joe Buck, Gary Cohen, Jacques Doucet, Tom Hamilton, Ken Korach, Mike Krukow, Duane Kuiper, and Dan Shulman.
- The voting panel, comprising 12 living Frick Award recipients and three broadcast historians, will decide the award's recipient, who will be honored during the Hall of Fame’s induction weekend on July 19-22 in Cooperstown, N.Y.
