Overview

  • On August 4 at 4 PM, the fourth and final Shrawan Somwar sawari began from Mahakaleshwar Temple presenting Mahakal as Chandramauleshwar in a palanquin, Manmahesh on elephant, Shivtandav on a Garuda cart and Uma-Mahesh on a Nandi cart.
  • More than 150,000 devotees visited the temple by 11 AM and thousands lined the 7-km procession route through landmarks such as Ramanujkot, Khati Ka Mandir, Patni Bazaar and Gudri Bazaar before its 7 PM return.
  • Tourism-themed floats showcased Madhya Pradesh’s wildlife, religious, historical and rural attractions with folk and tribal artists performing traditional dances along the route.
  • Minister Uday Pratap Singh, Mayor Mukesh Tatwal and senior temple committee officials led pre-procession worship rituals in the Mahakaleshwar Temple’s assembly hall.
  • Forest, Veterinary, Police and Electricity departments under the Ghatiya SDM coordinated crowd management, safety protocols and elephant welfare throughout the event.
