Overview

  • A three-tier security grid of Army, central armed police forces and J&K Police is operational at base camps and along both Baltal and Pahalgam routes, supported by daily mock drills and cordon-and-search operations.
  • Punjab Police’s command centre at Pathankot uses high-definition CCTV, drone surveillance and anti-sabotage checks to monitor convoy movements around the clock.
  • The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board has launched a reverification drive for pilgrims who registered before the April 22 Pahalgam attack, securing confirmations from over 85,000 yatris so far.
  • Trek paths have been widened from four to 12 feet, vulnerable stretches fortified with handrails and barriers, and grid power connectivity extended to camps at Baltal, Pantha Chowk and Nunwan.
  • Helicopter services have been suspended for safety reasons, and all pilgrims are advised to travel in designated convoys from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp.
