Final Safety Inspections Underway for Mumbai Metro Line 3 BKC–Worli Stretch
The 9.77-km segment of the Aqua Line is expected to open for public use as early as next week, advancing the phased rollout of Mumbai's underground metro system.
- The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has initiated final inspections on the BKC–Acharya Atre Chowk segment, with a full evaluation scheduled around April 10.
- If safety clearances are secured, the 9.77-km stretch could be operational by the weekend or early next week, according to project sources.
- The Aqua Line, partially operational since October 2024, currently runs between Aarey JVLR and BKC, covering 12.69 km.
- Once fully completed by July 2025, Metro Line 3 will span 22.5 km, feature 16 underground stations, and significantly enhance connectivity across Mumbai.
- A key engineering highlight of the new stretch includes tunneling beneath the Mithi River, showcasing the project's advanced infrastructure capabilities.
