Final Pacific Front Brings Cascade Snow, Hazardous Pass Travel Through Saturday

Lower snow levels are creating hazardous pass travel through Saturday.

Overview

  • Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect until 7 a.m. Saturday for the eastern slopes and areas south of Bend and until 4 p.m. Saturday for the Cascades.
  • Pass-level snow in the Oregon Cascades is forecast to total about 7–9 inches through Saturday with a low chance of reaching 12 inches in the Santiam and Willamette pass areas.
  • Central Oregon valleys have generally seen 0–2 inches while mountains are on track for several more inches, bringing many higher-elevation totals to roughly 6–8 inches by late Saturday.
  • Light snow and rain showers persisted Friday with slick, slushy or icy roads and gusty winds complicating travel, especially across mountain passes.
  • A ridge builds this weekend bringing dry, colder weather with overnight freezing and a gradual warm-up toward near-normal temperatures early next week, which could help more ski areas open.
