'Final Fantasy XVI' Matures Into A Dark Action RPG Inspired By 'Game Of Thrones’

Square Enix’s next Final Fantasy title aims to broaden the series’ appeal by focusing on action combat and a mature, politically-charged story.
The game is set in a medieval fantasy world and borrows heavily from George R.R. Martin’s popular book and TV series ‘A Song of Ice and Fire.'
Players control a lone protagonist, Clive Rosfield, who seeks vengeance in a story full of gore, risqué content and dark themes meant for adult audiences.
Combat revolves around controlling powerful creatures called Eikons and moving Clive around the battlefield to attack enemies directly.
Though very different from past entries, ‘Final Fantasy XVI’ still retains familiar elements like chocobos, moogles, crystals and an expansive fantasy world to explore.
