Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.3 Previews End of Dawntrail and Major Gameplay Overhauls

Patch notes for The Promise of Tomorrow outline overhauled dungeon flow as AI companions are introduced to bolster player support

Preliminary FF14 7.3 patch notes finally change one of its weirdest old dungeons

Overview

  • Patch 7.3, titled The Promise of Tomorrow, is set to launch on August 5 and will conclude the Dawntrail story arc while laying groundwork for the next expansion.
  • Cutter’s Cry has been redesigned so shifting sands only appear after a set number of enemies are defeated and all three boss encounters have been tweaked for smoother runs.
  • Phoenix Down can now be purchased from vendors, stacked up to 999 in inventory and used in combat on any player to reduce wipe recovery time.
  • NPC Duty Support is expanding to The Meso Terminal, an additional Dawntrail dungeon and the remastered Cutter’s Cry, allowing AI-controlled allies to fill party slots.
  • New quality-of-life features include chat bubbles, pop-up tutorials for objective quests, an enemy cast bar in instanced content and a free Phial of Fantasia from the Old Gridania moogle.
