Overview

  • Naoki “Yoshi-P” Yoshida made the comments in a recent Feed4Gamers interview, as reported on August 25–26.
  • He argued that most players are satisfied with current hardware like Xbox Series X, PS5, and Switch 2, and noted new consoles are expensive for consumers.
  • Yoshida said the team intends to bring Final Fantasy XIV to additional platforms, including future consoles, if and when it becomes practical.
  • He added that recent platforms are high spec, which makes development easier and means additional hardware does not necessarily pose a burden.
  • Support for the PS4 version will continue only as long as possible due to OS and data constraints, with Sony having raised limits for FFXIV but warning those thresholds are nearly reached.
