Final Fantasy Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi Embraces Role as Series Fan

Sakaguchi, who left Square Enix in 2003, prefers to enjoy Final Fantasy XIV as a player rather than return to game development.

Hironobu Sakaguchi has no plans to work on Final Fantasy or his other past franchises.
He believes returning to development would diminish his enjoyment of Final Fantasy XIV.
Sakaguchi's studio Mistwalker is set to release Fantasian Neo Dimension, published by Square Enix, in late 2024.
Despite his departure from game creation, Sakaguchi remains an avid player of Final Fantasy XIV.
He has also dismissed the idea of remastering Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey.
