Filming Underway for ‘Postcard Bandit’ Series in Fremantle

The six-part adaptation of Derek Pedley’s true-crime book is set to stream on Binge with a production budget exceeding $7 million.

Overview

  • Cameras began rolling this week in and around Fremantle for the six-episode drama depicting the Postcard Bandit’s crime spree and escapes.
  • George Mason leads an ensemble cast that features Robyn Malcolm, Ashleigh Cummings and Keiynan Lonsdale in key roles.
  • Based on Derek Pedley’s book Australian Outlaw, the propulsive series is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia for Foxtel Group and will stream on Binge.
  • Screenwest reports the production will pump over $7 million into the Western Australian economy and hire at least 80 local crew, 80 WA cast and 400 extras.
  • Brenden Abbott, currently serving time at Casuarina Prison as the longest-serving non-murder inmate in Australia, is eligible for parole in 2026.
