Figure Skating Community Honors D.C. Plane Crash Victims in Emotional Tribute

The Legacy on Ice benefit brought together skaters, families, and first responders to remember the 67 lives lost in the January tragedy.

The Legacy on Ice event at Capital One Arena featured performances by prominent U.S. figure skaters to honor victims of the January 29 plane crash over the Potomac River.
The crash, involving an Army Black Hawk helicopter and American Eagle Flight 5342, claimed 67 lives, including 28 members of the figure skating community returning from a development camp.
Skater Maxim Naumov delivered a moving performance dedicated to his late parents, both former world champion skaters, who died in the crash.
Isabella Aparicio, 13, performed to a recording of her late father playing the piano, paying tribute to her father and brother, also victims of the crash.
Proceeds from the event will support victims' families and first responders, addressing needs such as therapy, healthcare, and education costs.
