- OpenAI CEO Sam Altman demonstrated a native Figma app running in ChatGPT at DevDay in San Francisco, showing users can invoke it by name to complete design tasks.
- Altman said ChatGPT reaches over 800 million monthly users and introduced an Apps SDK that lets third-party tools plug into the assistant with in-app login.
- Figma said the ChatGPT app can recommend and create FigJam outputs such as flow charts, sequence and state diagrams, and Gantt charts, and it accepts uploads like photos, drawings, and PDFs.
- The Figma app is available to ChatGPT customers outside the European Union on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, with developer app submissions to OpenAI’s SDK slated for later in 2025 alongside new revenue opportunities.
- Figma shares jumped as much as about 16% Monday and rose a further roughly 2% after hours to $58.11, then added 6.8% Tuesday to close at $60.84, marking their biggest single-day gain since the July IPO.
