Fifth Arrest in Montgomery Mass Shooting as Wounded Survivor Faces Gun Charge

Police say the survivor now charged over illegal possession also faces separate robbery counts linked by social media firearm evidence.

Overview

  • Ivan Jarvis Floyd, 22, was booked Thursday, Nov. 6, on a charge of certain persons forbidden to carry a firearm after being wounded during the Oct. 4 attack.
  • Charging documents state the gun recovered where Floyd was found at the scene matched a weapon shown in social media connected to a Sept. 29 robbery.
  • Police also filed unrelated counts of first-degree robbery and first- and second-degree theft and sought bond revocations in older cases including reckless murder, assault and promoting prison contraband.
  • Four others were previously arrested: a juvenile and adults Dantavious McGhee and Kemontae Hood on capital murder and assault counts, and Javorick Whiting on attempted murder.
  • Investigators say the late-night downtown shooting near Bibb and Commerce killed Jeremiah Morris and Shalanda Williams and wounded 12 others, and they continue to seek tips for additional arrests.
