FIFA Made Misleading Claims About Carbon Neutral Qatar World Cup

FIFA claimed the 2022 World Cup would be carbon neutral but lacked evidence to substantiate the claims according to Swiss regulators.
Complaints were filed against FIFA in five countries alleging false advertising over sustainability claims for the Qatar World Cup.
The Swiss Fairness Commission investigated the complaints and found FIFA could not conclusively prove the tournament would be carbon neutral.
The commission advised FIFA to stop making unsubstantiated claims about sustainability and the environment.
FIFA has been given 20 days to appeal the ruling which found the organization breached Swiss law with misleading ads about the Qatar World Cup.
