Overview
- Twelve groups of four teams will be drawn for the first 48‑team World Cup.
- Hosts Canada, Mexico and the United States are in Pot 1 with fixed positions Mexico A1, Canada B1 and United States D1 identified by colored balls.
- Pot 1 also includes Spain, Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
- Italy has been placed in Pot 4 under the November 19 FIFA ranking, which also includes placeholders for two intercontinental playoff winners and four remaining European qualifiers.
- Draw restrictions will place Spain and Argentina in opposite halves, with the same rule for France and England, reducing the chance of meetings before the final if they win their groups.
