Fies Renegotiation Window Ends Monday, Aug. 31
Borrowers who miss the deadline risk losing large, time‑limited discounts because agreements only take effect after the required entry payment is made.
Overview
- The Desenrola Fies renegotiation period closes Monday, Aug. 31, and all deals must be started and finalized with the responsible bank before that date to qualify for the program’s terms.
- Only Fies contracts signed through 2017 and in the amortization phase on the program’s reference date are eligible, while contracts from Jan. 1, 2018 onward and those in use or grace phases are excluded.
- The offer uses tiered relief: CadÚnico debtors more than 360 days overdue can get up to 99% off total debt, non‑CadÚnico debtors over 360 days can get up to 77% off, and debts over 90 days qualify for up to a 12% principal cut if paid in full; parceling is available up to 150 installments with interest and fines waived.
- Renegotiation must be done with the contract’s financial agent—Banco do Brasil or Caixa—via the BB app, Caixa Fies app, the sifesweb portal or in person, and each contract may be renegotiated only once during the program.
- Agreements are only formalized after the entry payment is made, which triggers removal from delinquency registries for debtors and guarantors when applicable, and the deadline was fixed by the temporary measure because lawmakers did not extend the program window.
