Fiery Three-Car Crash on Bourne’s Scenic Highway Critically Injures 23-Year-Old

Traffic partially resumed after an hours-long shutdown as police continue the investigation.

  • The collision occurred around 1:15 p.m. on the Scenic Highway segment between Edghill and Herring Pond roads in Bourne.
  • Firefighters arrived first, extinguished a vehicle fire, and began treating occupants who were initially trapped.
  • A 23-year-old Carver man driving a red 2022 Hyundai Kona suffered life-threatening injuries, and the other two drivers were also taken to a hospital.
  • Police identified the other vehicles as a green 2025 BMW X1 driven by a 53-year-old Truro man and a blue 2010 Audi Q5 driven by a 43-year-old Lowell man, with all three cars heavily damaged.
  • Lanes were shut for several hours before a partial reopening around 4:45 p.m., and police said one lane in each direction will be closed for repairs.
