A devastating accident occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike as a tanker truck carrying jet fuel hit two stopped cars, leading to a massive fiery crash that resulted in two fatalities.
The incident happened after a car with a flat tire stopped in the right lane and another vehicle pulled over to assist, prompting the tanker to crash into both cars as it was unable to halt in time.
The crash, which occurred on Saturday morning in Worcester Township, Montgomery County, led to the highway being closed in both directions for several hours while officials investigated and facilitated the removal of vehicles and debris.
The deceased included the driver of the tanker truck, as well as one of the drivers of the stopped vehicles, while the survivor suffered minor injuries.
Traffic was heavily impacted by the accident, with motorists being urged to stay inside their vehicles due to the severity of the incident. Center barriers of the highway were ultimately removed to allow drivers to turn around.
